The tail female line is undistinguished. There is not a mare in it who shows up on any of the databases and Dr. Birdsall's books that I use. mares BUT the FF is 16-f, and that descends from Annette, who was the dam of Agnes, by way of her descendant Queen Bee. The most famous mare for sport from 16-f is Miss Matty, who was the dam of Papyrus. I believe that some broodmare families have something that makes them express the genes that produce athletism, and most of the Annette female descendants seem to have been able to do that. The family lives today primarily through Annette's descendants.

So other than being good breeders and having 16's DNA, there isn't much to say about the tail female line.

But the rest of the damline is exceptional. Columbus has pointed out most of the good lines for sport. Bold Bidder is one of the best lines for event horses, and he has had grandget who were Olympic horses for 3 different countries in 2000 and 2004. A Fine Romance is a grandson of Bold Bidder.

But to my thinking the thing that makes her very special is the sire's dam line. Remember that the sire passes on a "pure" X chromosome that he inherited from his dam. I nearly swooned over Annabeth's pedigree. The female family is 2-n. That's the Alexander mare of 1790, and her female descendants all seemed to pass on the jump. Teddy is 2-o, but that's from one of her daughters. If I had to choose three female families for sport horses, the lines from the Alexander mare would be one. Dalfence has intense inbreeding to both Ballot and Negofol. Those two stallions are in the pedigrees of many of the very best TB show jumpers from North America. Rose Leaves, who is a daughter of Ballot, was bred twice to Negofol. Her sons from him were Bois de Rose who was the sire of Cormac, and Espino who was the sire of a bunch of horses in Dr. Birdsall. Her othergreat sport horse sire son was Bull Lea, who may have been one of the most prolific North American bred sires of jumping horses in North American history. He has no fewer than 2 inches of mostly show jumpers. And he shares Ballot with the others. Hourless has some sport horses on his own. And Helvetia, who is Past Eight's dam is also a daughter of Hourless. Toubo is from one of the last direct lines to Saint Simon (I think Prince Rose may be the only other one), and it's been said that Saint Simon brought the jump to the UK. The line is through Chaucer, who is the sire of both Selene and Scapa Flow. Selene was the dam of Hyperion, Sickle,
Pharamond II, and Hunter's Moon. Boxeuse is a daughter of Teddy, and no more needs to be said, although her damsire also is a nice line in sport horses.

Holandes has many nice horses also. Full Sail is good from top to bottom. Both Stefan the Great and Bachelor's Double (dam sire of Furioso) are well established lines in sport horses. Hurry On was the grandsire on top of Furioso. Theonia is tail female to Lady Reel (FF23-b) which has been chugging out superior performers in North America since the middle of the 19th century. With Theonia, you get a top and bottom double to Count Fleet who is in the lines of many International level show jumpers.

And then you have the rare line on top to Round Table. He is one of the best sons of Princequillo, who was one of the top 3 sport horse sire lines in the mid 1990's per an article by Dr. Birdsall. And Princequillo is direct sire line to Saint Simon, through the very great TB sire of sires, Prince Rose. The other two great WWII era sons of Prince Rose are Prince Bio and Prince Chevalier, the latter of whom has been said by at least one commentator to have been the best sire of steeplechasers in the middle of the 20th century. I understand that the Prince Rose
lines are still highly sought after in European WB breeding.
